I live in Portland, Oregon, the great city where I grew up. The things that I enjoy most about my city are having the Cascades right out the back door, our great food, and the heart filled Portland spirit.
I enjoy hiking, recipe development, and the patterns in nature. In my free time I create new ice cream flavors, learn new technologies, and make s’mores with friends. I love cooking, and did it professionally for years. Now, I’m working on a collection of recipes from my days in the kitchen. I am a food science enthusiast, using it to understand and improve my work.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Portland State University. I focused my studies on statistics, probability, and computer science. I want to apply this knowledge to understanding the vast amounts of data available to us. We can find meaningful connections in this apparent chaos and use them to improve the quality of our lives and success of our businesses. By better understanding the patterns and relationships that naturally occur in our activities we can all enrich our experiences and lead more connected and fulfilling lives.
I’m an open source advocate and amateur programmer interested in collective intelligence, image processing, and computational mathematics. Take a look at some of my projects and see what I’m up to.
